Engine Specifications: 1,582 CC Flat 4-Cylinder Engine Dual Zenith Carburetors 75 BHP at 5,500 RPM 4-Speed Manual Gearbox 4-Wheel Drum Brakes Independent Front and Rear Suspension About this Car: This beautifully presented example of Porsche’s classic 356 Reutter-bodied Cabriolet bears stunning testimony to one of the most influential sports cars of all time. According to the 356 Registry, this European-specification car was originally retailed through the Hanover, Germany- based dealer and renowned Volkswagen Special racer Petermax Müller, who is well known amongst vintage competition aficionados as one of the first significant participants in post-war German racing. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity reflects that this 356 completed assembly on June 7, 1962, equipped with desirable options, such as theuprated1600Superengine,Cocofloormats, ventilated chrome wheels, a chrome horn ring, and dual fog lamps. The certificate also confirms that engine number KD-P-88189, a factory-issued rebuild of a 1960 model-year 1600S engine, was installed at 78,500 km, most likely by the Porsche factory. Eventually imported to the US, this 356 came into the possession of a Michigan-based owner by the late 2000s and was refurbished under his care by local restorers. This work included a cosmetic restoration in the original color scheme of ivory paint over a black interior, as well as the installation of a Haartz-style cloth top and a Leitz luggage rack with a vintage, matching Hartmann suitcase. California Porsche Restoration of Fallbrook, California, located and then purchased the car in this tastefully restored state. Acquired from California Porsche Restoration by the consignor, this charming 356 is accompanied by a jack and tool kit, a tonneau cover, manuals in the proper pouch, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. In preparation for its offering here, this 356 has been thoroughly detailed and serviced as needed, with all fluids changed, and new spark plugs installed. Desirably equipped with a vintage Blaupunkt push-button FM radio and marque-crested hubcaps, this handsome 356 Super Cabriolet offers spirited open-top motoring in inimitable Porsche style, perfect for local concours or vintage tours.
