Engine Specifications: 265 CID OHV V-8 Engine Single Rochester 4-Barrel Carburetor 205 BHP at 4,600 RPM 2-Speed Powerglide Transmission 4-Wheel Drum Brakes Independent Front Suspension with Coil Springs Live Rear Axle with Leaf Springs About this Car: This comprehensively restored example of Chevy’s classic 1956 Bel Air is surely among the finest to become available in recent years. Though little is currently known of the car’s early history, its chassis number indicates that it was originally equipped with a V-8 engine and manufactured at GM’s Kansas City plant. This Bel Air is fully optioned with the most desirable features, including a Turbo-Fire 265 engine with dual exhaust, a Powerglide automatic transmission, air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes, a power top, Continental rear-wheel carrier, wire-wheel covers, radio with antenna, oil-bath air cleaner, and an electric clock. Approximately 12 years ago, this striking Chevrolet was acquired at auction in a freshly rejuvenated state by a well-known New Jersey dealer of classic and highline automobiles. At this time, the car had been comprehensively restored with a complete mechanical refurbishment and detailing. The restorer also performed a renewal of the duotone interior and the original Chevy paint livery of Sierra Gold offset with Adobe Beige. In this beautiful condition, the car was spotted by the consignor and soon purchased for his private collection, which is displayed in a museum-style setting. Exhibited during private viewings and maintained as needed, the Bel Air sat in a pristine and well- preservedstateforapproximately10yearsbefore the owner commenced a thorough mechanical refurbishment by Radical Motorsports of Ramsey, New Jersey. Every mechanical component was evaluated and refinished or replaced as needed. A new exhaust and brakes were installed, while the carburetors were cleaned and tuned. The engine was checked and calibrated, and all cosmetic components were exactingly refreshed and detailed to show-quality standards. Since the recent completion of this extensive freshening, this car has accrued very little mileage. This car is wonderfully prepared for cruising afternoons or the pursuit of exhibition acclaim at local shows and AACA events. Mounted with whitewall tires and accompanied by owner’s manuals and 1956 Chevy sales literature, this crisply detailed Bel Air Convertible sparkles from the deep shine of its Sierra Gold paint to the brilliance of its chrome moldings. As the wire-wheel covers and the color-matched Continental tire kit indicate, this Bel Air is an unusually complete and authentic example of a veritable American classic.
