This exceptionally nice 1969 Camaro RS hardtop is the real deal. While it's tough to authenticate things like the RS package, it's the little details on this car that truly deliver the goods. With a fresh restoration in its original color combination, it's a fantastic car to drive and enjoy, if it were mine, I'd let the numbers guys worry from behind their desks. Code 71 LeMans Blue was the second most popular color in 1969, just a few hundred cars behind Hugger Orange. One look at this incredible hardtop and it will convince you why. Imagine walking into the showroom in 1969 and seeing this car sitting there under the lights-it would be pretty hard to resist taking it home, then or today. The bodywork was stripped bare and rebuilt from the bottom up, resulting in a very straight car that shows extremely well today. The finish is, of course, modern paint, but that also means a shine that's as durable as it is beautiful, and the black vinyl top has been professionally installed so there are no wrinkles or sags, and definitely no signs of rust underneath. Early-style stripes were added, and I think they're my favorite style, neatly framing the '350' badges up front. A correct RS grille with folding headlights, proper back-up lights in the lower valence, and, of course, "rally-sport' badges leave no doubt about this car's pedigree. The black interior has been taken back to factory-original condition as well, with the same spectacular results. New seat covers over the bucket seats duplicate the factory ribbed pattern, and include the new-for-1969 federally-mandated headrests. In between, there's a center console with a horseshoe shifter, which is about as cool as shiftless shifting gets, then or today. A correct RS steering wheel, complete with matching wood applique, frames the original gauges, and there are fresh door panels and carpets as well. All too often, cars like this are stuffed full of "upgrades," but you'll note that this one is so pure, it still carries a radio block-off plate so your driving enjoyment isn't interrupted by anything. The trunk carries a reproduction mat that fits beautifully and is somehow devoid of wrinkles-what, did they iron it first? Nice! The cackling 350 under the hood makes a reported 300 horsepower, and it certainly feels strong from behind the wheel. Nicely detailed but not quite exactly to factory specs, it does include things like finned Z/28 valve covers which always look fantastic. A correct dual snorkel air cleaner with reproduction decals, bright Chevy Orange paint, and refinished cast iron exhaust manifolds reinforce the stock look, and it includes power steering and a fresh power brake booster and dual master cylinder. Sharp-eyed viewers will have noticed that that dual master cylinder is for a set of 4-wheel discs, not factory JL8s, but close enough and a big improvement in performance. With straight pipes, the small block is seriously threatening, and the TH350 3-speed automatic and 10-bolt rear have been rebuilt as well. The only major deviation from stock are those gorgeous Boss Motorsports wheels, which wear staggered 235/40/18 front and 275/40/20 rear Toyos. Completely sorted, beautifully finished, and impressively quick, this RS delivers the goods in every way. Call now! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
