I don't think you can call this slick 1964 Corvette roadster a resto-mod, but it definitely benefits from a few decades of technology. Thanks to a fuel injected 350 out of a C4 Corvette, it runs like no original '64 ever did, and offers ice cold A/C, two tops, and a 4-speed just to sweeten the deal. It really is impossible not to love a bright red Corvette roadster, and driving this Sting Ray will make you the envy of every man, woman, and child you pass. The Riverside Red paint job was done to professional standards over some very good original fiberglass, with the exception of the big block hood that was added at the same time. It shows none of the usual stress cracks around the headlight openings, so someone was on top of things when it went back together, and the gaps are quite good all around. From outward appearances, you'd never know about the upgrades inside, which is just the way we like our mid-year Corvettes because there's just no way to improve the design. The chrome was freshened at the same time, showing off nice, straight bumpers, brightly polished rocker panel trim, and correct badges throughout. There's nothing inside that will tip observers off about the upgrades, either. Instead, there's just a set of simple black buckets finished in appropriate Corvette pleated seat covers. Matching carpets, new door panels, and a freshened dash all add to the restored look and feel, and the gauges are neatly restored with crisp markings and bright pointers. The original woodgrained steering wheel is a popular item, as is the cue ball-tipped 4-speed shifter between the seats. The upgraded A/C system uses R134a refrigerant and hides in plain sight using original round vents under the dash. Even the unique vertically-oriented radio remains in the center of the dash. A black convertible top is the one you'll be using most often, and it stows quickly and easily beneath the flush-fitting rear deck, but a correct removable hardtop is also included (although not shown). If you're a fan of driving (and how could you not be with a red '64 Corvette in your garage), then you'll love the TPI L89 under the hood. Renowned for torque production, it out-grunts the original 327 in this Corvette and does it with the effortless reliability that only fuel injection can deliver. Thanks to the small block Chevy's longevity, it's practically a bolt-in proposition in an early 'Vette, giving it an OEM look under the hood. Sure, details like the beautiful Edelbrock finned valve covers are a great way to dress things up, and the polished intake cover looks a bit like an original Rochester fuel injection unit-do you think that was on purpose? Underneath it's solid and nicely preserved, although not restored for show, but that only means you won't have to worry about putting it on the road. The 15-inch Rallys aren't quite correct for a '64, but they look awesome and fill the wheel wells with newer BFG radials. Reliable, fast, and from all outward appearances, completely stock. There's a lot to love in this Corvette, especially if you're into driving instead of decoding numbers. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
