Wheelbase: 2,340 mm (92.1 in.) In order to honor the memory of his late son and continue his developmental work on a new V-6 engine, Enzo Ferrari directed Vittorio Jano to finish Dino's project. The Dino was not only Ferrari's first mid-engine production car, but also marked the debut of a new Ferrari-based Dino brand that was entirely devoid of Ferrari badging. With its powerful 2,418 cc engine, and a reported 146 mph top speed coupled with race-inspired handling, the Dino quickly impressed Ferrari fans. Chassis no. 08052 is a late example of what is considered to be the most desirable Dino series produced. Delivered to Chinetti-Garthwaite Inc. in Paoli, Pennsylvania and sold new by Knauz Continental Autos to a Mr. Wayne Elliott of Golf, Illinois; the Ferrari remained under the tenure of Mr. Elliot for ten years, until it was sold to the second and long-term caretaker in May of 1984. Attentive ownership and regular servicing certainly attribute to the outstanding preservation of this Dino. The GTS remains well preserved today and beautifully presented its original color Blu Sera Metallizzato (106-A72). It has Ferrari red leather trimmed black carpeting, sitting on original Chromodora wheels wrapped with factory matching Goodyear P800s. All glass, lenses, gauges and chrome are original to car, as are portions of the paint. The Dino was designed by PininFarina but the bodies were constructed by Carrozeria Scaglietti. Since these where hand built cars, Scaglietti issued a body number to each car which was crucial during the assembly process. Impressively, 08052 retains all of its original parts and body numbers today. The factory body number stampings 2881 are found on the inside face of each door (facing door jamb), both rear trunk hinges, both door jamb kick plates and on the expansion tank mounting tab. Very rarely seen is the factory chalked number on the luggage compartments firewall. All body lines and panel fit are very straight and even throughout. Mechanically, the car runs and drives great. All electrical components are in excellent working order, including the lights, signals, wipers, radio, gauges, and PW windows. All complete with the original spare with correct Goodyear tire, a comprehensive set of original manuals and warranty card in leather pouch, original tool roll with tools, original jack in roll and original keys in fob! A letter from the 2nd owner of almost 30 years is on file verifying the original mileage. Dino's have developed into highly sought-after investments that continue to increase in collectability. We hunt for Dino's every day and they are becoming very difficult to find. If you are adding an honest and remarkable preserved 246 GTS to your collection we encourage serious consideration of this two-owner, 19,000 original-mile Ferrari Dino. $339,500.00 To learn more about this vehicle, please contact our sales department at (281) 497-1000 or sales@driversource.com Selling Made Simple.
