When the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in October 1965 the development departments were displaying the result of work carried out over a period of some ten years. The new series was characterised by surprisingly modern features and through their development, Rolls-Royce broke new ground and away from many sacred design principles. The new models were technically striking in three ways: a monocoque chassis was used, all wheels were sprung independently and four wheel disc brakes now ensured stopping power of the kind expected in a modern car. Under the bonnet, the V8 engine which had been introduced in the Silver Cloud series was employed. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. Outwardly the models were identifiable by bumpers with rubber inserts and edges made from polyurethane. The most notable changes mechanically were to the rack and pinion steering and modifications to the front suspension which markedly improved handling.
This Silver Shadow II was originally registered on 1st January 1980 and the current vendor has been the custodian since 3rd November 1991, some 22 years! Finished in silver with navy trim and contrasting seat piping, the car comes supplied with a good service history; mainly from a recognised specialist, and also the V5 registration document and a full year's MoT test certificate. Rolls-Royce prices have been increasing of late, and this is an ideal opportunity to obtain a Silver Shadow II at an affordable price.
