The 1969 Camaro pace cars are unquestionably blue-chip investments. But with fakes so easy to build and documentation so difficult to come by, where do you start? Well, how about this extensively documented, numbers-matching pace car with its original 350/300 V8 and automatic transmission? Recently restored to a very high level, this is the investment-grade pace car you've been waiting for, and it's ready to drive today. The fact that these are perhaps the most outrageous looking of the '69 Camaros is not an accident. Pace cars have always been attention-grabbing machines, and the inverted Ermine White with Hugger Orange stripes give them a unique look that's recognizable from the Goodyear blimp. The car was taken down to bare metal for the repaint, which was done in early 2013, so it is fresh, fresh, fresh! All the desirable gear is there, from the RS hidden headlights to the cowl-induction hood, and the SS stripes are complimented by a set of Hugger Orange pinstripes highlighting the fender lines. Reproduction SS and '350' badges were used to give it a factory-fresh look, and the bumpers are fresh chrome that looks better than new. This is a seriously nice car. The other part of the pace car equation was, of course, the orange houndstooth interior which was unique to these models. While a love-it-or-hate-it proposition, the upholstery is part of the package and if you want a pace car, you'd better love it. Fortunately, loving it is easy when it looks this good, with all new soft parts including seat covers, carpets, door panels, and dash pad. During the restoration, nothing was left unrestored, and this car features new seat springs, correct date-coded windshield, a fresh woodgrained steering wheel, and new gauges in the center console. The mileage shown, 90,667, is likely correct, but who really cares since the car has essentially been remachined from the ground up, making it better than new. The white convertible top fits so well you're almost afraid to put it down, and there's a new orange boot as well. The trunk features correct mats, including spare tire cover, as well as a complete jack assembly. The original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago and runs as you'd expect. As a high-end investment-grade piece of muscle, they also spent a lot of time on the little stuff that makes a big difference, so fasteners, clamps, clips, and other little pieces are correct throughout the engine bay. New pieces include the power brake booster and master cylinder, alternator, and power steering pump, as well as the suspension, gas tank, and all the lines and hoses. It's probably safe to call this a new car. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt and feeds the original 10-bolt rear, which is stashed ahead of the new exhaust system with transverse muffler. Correct Rally wheels with new 225/70/14 BFG radials round out the package. Included with the car are many of the parts replaced during the restoration, including the original wheel and some trim, plus full documentation of all the critical numbers. In a world filled with fakes, this is one pace car you can buy with complete confidence. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
