Sometimes all the right ingredients come together and you get an amazing piece of hardware like this 1971 Camaro Z/28 tribute. With an injected small block, manual transmission, road-race-ready suspension, and an interior filled with creature comforts, it's a no compromises hobby car that you can drive every day. Oh, and it's also stunning to look at, if that helps. Those stunning good looks start with the dramatic second-generation F-body, which really was a ground-breaking design in 1970. This one is a genuine RS, complete with the gaping grille and delicate bumperettes on either side, the look overwhelmingly preferred by 2nd Gen enthusiasts. To that already handsome profile, they added a slick cowl-induction hood and a slightly oversized ducktail spoiler out back, wrapping it around into the quarter panels and beautifully integrating it into the overall look. Crouching on the lowered suspension, the car looks ferocious even sitting still. Paint work is outstanding, with extra nice prep under the two-stage urethane to give it a liquid-like shine that shows extremely well. Most folks are tempted to run their fingers along the hood, perhaps just to test and see if it's still wet, it really is that glossy and smooth. The bumpers and other bright trim have all been replated or polished, and reproduction Z/28 emblems were fitted as needed. While the original cockpit was certainly no slouch in the driver ergonomics department, this Camaro takes it to the next level with a set of black leather Procar seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and attention to detail in every regard. The wrap-around instrument panel is now stuffed with crisp, clearly-marked Auto Meter Pro-Comp gauges, and it's nice to see full-sweep mechanical units for both oil pressure and temperature. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo has been expertly installed in the dash, giving it a highly professional look, and durable Z/28 logo floor mats will protect the new carpets for years to come. An auxiliary 12V power outlet is neatly stashed next to the console to power your cell phone or GPS unit, which suggests that this car was built to cruise. In back, the trunk offers a relatively new mat with no unpleasant surprises hiding underneath. The 355 cubic inch small block barks to life instantly thanks to a cleverly hidden EZ EFI fuel injection system hidden under an original style air cleaner. With finned aluminum valve covers and tons of polished pieces, it looks ready to show but drives superbly. The intake is by Edelbrock and features their Endura-Shine coating and new billet pulleys power a chrome alternator and power steering pump. Long-tube headers, an X-pipe, and twin performance mufflers give it that horsepower sound, and hile you're looking around, note that the floors are extremely nice. It also features a full tubular A-arm front suspension, oversized Hotchkiss sway bars, and QA1 coil-overs, not to mention a set of Wilwood disc brakes for impressive stopping power. The transmission is a 4-speed Muncie spinning a 10-bot rear with 3.42s and a Posi inside. 18-inch Torque Thrusts complete the look with staggered 235/40/18 front and 275/40/18 rear performance radials. With over $27,000 in receipts (not counting the cost of the car itself), this is a fast, comfortable, fully-sorted Camaro that you can buy without regrets. Call today!
