Known History

This Ferrari 250GT/L "Lusso" features a stunning platinum level restoration with flawless burgundy paint, over superb and supple tan Connolly leather seats and quilted rear package shelf, finished off with leatherľbound brown Wilton Wool carpets.

This Lusso has been meticulously maintained and is fully sorted, and runs and drives as new. The engine and gearbox have been completely rebuilt with only 1,900 easy and gentle "break-in miles" on them since all work was completed.

The engine, engine compartment, frame, suspension and brakes are all carefully detailed and showroom new.

The full history and ownership, restoration and service history are all well known and documented from new.

In the early 1990s prominent FCA member and chief concours jude, Mike and and his wife Becki Dunn of Newark, California begun what was at the time the most comprehensive and complete restoration ever undertaken on a Ferrari Lusso. Three hard years later, chassis 5425/GT made its concours debut at the 1994 FCA International Meet held in Monterey, California on August 24th, 1994 They easily scored a 1st in class top trophy, the first of fours such top awards they would earn in a row!

That same week, just two days later at the Concourso Italiano at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California they again scored a 1st in class award.

On February 11th, 1995, at the Cavallino Classics in Palm Beach, Florida, the Dunn's took their 3rd 1st place trophy in three showings of their Lusso. This was followed on May 19th, 1995 at the FCA National Meet in Columbus, Ohio where they took the best road-going Ferrari top award (Strada Automobili Award.)

The following month on June 24th at the Father's Day (Rosso Rodeo Drive) Ferrari gathering, the Dunn's scored the "People's Choice" award for best Ferrari.

Returning again to Monterey in August of 1995, the Dunn's showed their Lusso first on the August 18th, FCA Vintage Ferrari Concours in Carmel, California where they again scored a 1st in class top award. Two days later, the Dunn's showed their Lusso at Pebble Beach where politics came into play. Despite protests from several, the Dunn's were nonetheless awarded a 3rd in class award for their efforts.

Several months later, Mike and Becki decided their Lusso was simply too perfect for regular ever day use and the decision was made to sell her. The car was sold shortly thereafter to the Zyouiti Imanishi Museum Collection in Japan where it continued to earn top awards for the next twenty-plus years until our purchase earlier this month.

Rest assured, despite being restored more than 25 years ago, chassis 5245/GT remains one of the most correct and authentically, fully restored, rust and accident free Ferrari Lussos known to still exist. The original and correct concours quality tools and jack as well as manual and pouch are sold with this Ferrari.
