Known History

MF10-10068 is an extremely early, Type 10, Japanese Domestic Market, Normal-Production version 2000GT that was completed on August 9th, 1967 and released for local retail sale at the Tokyo Toyota Store later that month.

The current as well as original delivery exterior color of this particular 2000GT is Solar Red (Color Code 2310.) The paint in fact is original to the car as is the interior. As can be seen from the photos shown below, the entire chassis, suspension, engine, gearbox etc... have all been completely and totally restored.

MF10-10068 is sequentially the 68th of only 351 examples completed and one of only 233 original Right-Hand-Drive examples ever completed.

Four days after being completed, "Toyota Store" Tokyo sold and delivered this vehicle new to first owner, Ootani Zazuhiko. Official registration records show that he owned the vehicle for just over five years before selling it to second owner, Asami Kazuo on September 22nd, 1972. Just six months later, Kazuo San sold this vehicle to Inoue Seiko with an officially recorded sale date of March 19th, 1973. Seiko San owned this 2000GT for the next 16 years until it was purchased by Katura Kensetu's "KK Museum Collection" on October 12th, 1989. It would remain in the collection for ten years when on September 20th, 1999, it was purchased by prominent collector, Yoshida Masayuki.

During Masayuki's ownership, this 2000GT was impeccably cared for and attended to with careful attention being paid to preservation of the ultra original exterior paint and interior. Having covered just over 100,000 kilometers from new, chassis 10068 was considered by most experts to be one of the most remarkably well preserved and original 2000GTs that were still left in Japan. In late 2012, this 2000GT came to the attention of the world renown, Tokyo based "TC Collection." A deal was struck and the vehicle acquired by them officially on December 18th, 2012. Over the next two years, the TC Collection had the car's original chassis, suspension, brakes, engine, gearbox and rear axle assembly removed from the body. A full drive train and chassis restoration was undertaken. No expense was spared to carefully restore what could not be seen while even more carefully preserving the original exterior paint, trim and complete interior as delivered new.

This 2000GT was offered to us earlier this year and purchased last month and formally imported to the States. It remains a benchmark of authenticity and originality with all services and maintenance current and complete and with break-in only time on the entire drive-train and suspension.
