Known History

1948 ALFA ROMEO 6C ,Supercharged with unique, period bodywork designed by Carrozzeria Colli,Milano .

Here we have a genuinely unique opportunity to acquire a one off Alfa Romeo 6C ,which has been draped in this stunning, period bodywork designed and built in aluminium by Carrozzeria Colli of Milano.

The engine and long wheelbase rolling chassis are engine & chassis numbers 928120 & 916249 respectively and both have been professionally rebuilt. The 6 cylinder 2500cc engine, to which a Mk VII Godfrey supercharger has been added feeding from a 2.25 inch SU carburettor, and gearbox by Duncan Ricketts (leading race engineer & ERA racer) and the chassis, suspension and running gear all rebuilt by well-known Alfa restorers Frenchay Garage. An overdrive unit from Tim Payne was also added operating on third and fourth gears.

Later a unique two door, five light coupe body by Carrozzeria Colli was purchased. This had originally been commissioned for an Alfa 8C2300 chassis number 2311228 in 1952 (see pictures on page 729 in Simon Moore’s book) and was stripped back to the bare aluminium and after minor repairs primed and painted with all relevant parts being re-chromed before re-fitting. The instruments were all re-furbished by the Vintage Instrument Company. Pictures showing the chassis and bodywork being rebuilt are available.

The final assembly and re-wiring were completed by engineers R.J. Bradley & Sons and a full re-trim with new carpets was then done by Alfa experts T & J Coburn.

There is a complete file with all bills and receipts for everything done.

The car has been rebuilt over a 12 year period and is only just completed.

As previously hinted at,the bodywork by Carrozzeria Colli,Milano was originally built and fitted onto Alfa Romeo 8C,chassis number 2311228 in 1952.This particular Alfa 8c was subsequently found by a later owner to have a racing history,so the bodywork was removed and a replica body built of the original.

Please inquire for further details, any inspection is welcome.
