Wire wheels, matching numbers, 4.2 liter 6 cylinder, 4 speed full synchro gearbox, air conditioner, convertible with factory hard top

This 1969 series 2 e-type roadster has only had one lady owner since new! It is very usual to still find a Jaguar e-type owned by its original owner after almost 40 years, and much rarer when that owner was a lady. Car has 50K original miles.

The Jaguar has the two most desirable options available at the time .... the factory air conditioner and the rare removable hard top.

A new clutch and brake master cylinder were recently installed. The engine runs good with excellent oil pressure, no smoke and no oil leaks. Gearbox and brakes are in working order.

The car needs cosmetics and therefore it is being offered at a very attractive price. The car left the factory as Primrose yellow but was painted blue by the dealer at the request of the original owner. She gave me a photo of the blue Jaguar parked in front of the dealer on the day she took delivery (see below). The current red paint job was done years ago and it was not properly done.

A new soft top, still in its box, is included and needs to be installed. Tires are old and dry rotted. Tires are okay for driving short distances but I would not trust them at speed. There is rust on the front floor foot wells (new ones are available for $55 each). There is some rust on the bottom front of the bonnet (very usual place for water to collect), the rest of the bonnet is solid and very straight. The hardtop back Plexiglas is loose and needs to be re-installed. The AC compressor is missing the clutch (I would replace the compressor with a more efficient modern rotary unit). Car has not been driven much the last few years and I would recommend a change of all fluids.

I was told the car was never in an accident. The bonnet shows no sign of collision damage and the engine frame rails are nice and straight. The bonnet closes very nicely, which is very important on an e-type. Overall the body gaps are quite good.

This is a good car for the person that enjoys tinkering and does not mind investing some elbow grease and weekends to make the Jaguar better. The combination of only one owner, matching numbers and desirable options makes this an attractive XKE to restore.
