When the Porsche GT3 was launched as a new model in the late 90’s, it was an overwhelming success. All GT3s have since become some of the most sought after modern collectible Porsche ever offered. The famous Mezger engines were the foundation of all the 996 and 997 GT3s. This motor is known for being one of the best engines ever built. It is considered incredibly reliable and able to handle gobs of power. The RS 4.0 was the last of these engines. The new 991s have gone away from this engine design and have already been plagued with engine rebuilds and recalls. Even the 991 Cup cars are using a Mezger engine if that tells you something.

The 2nd Generation GT3’s have seen a bump in value as buyers for the 911’s have migrated back to the 997.2 (commonly referred to as Gen 2) models. With their displacement growing from 3.6 to 3.8 liters, these race-ready streetcars now saw 435hp and 317lb ft. tq.

Pacific Porsche of Torrance, California sold this GT3 new on June 5th, 2011. It was built in September of 2010.

The original owner only had the car for less than a year and sold it to the current owner with only 6,000 miles on it. The current owner is a long time Porsche enthusiast. Upon purchase, he had a thorough inspection performed by a top local shop. It passed with flying colors. Shortly after purchasing, the owner figured he should truly learn how to drive this car. So, he had the car completely wrapped to protect the finish and he replaced the ceramic rotors and pads with steel ones as not to wear them out. We have the original ceramic rotors and pads, which can be easily swapped back. Furthermore, he had GMG install a removable roll bar for protection. He only used the car at a handful of Porsche club events for about a year. It was never raced and it never went off track. In fact, we just had the DME computer checked for over-revs and there are zero level 2 or higher. It is obvious that it was carefully used and not abused.

For the last 3-years, this owner has only put about 10k miles on the car. During this time, he was fanatical with his maintenance. Most of the service was either performed at the local Porsche dealer, Werks II, or TLG Auto. TLG is one of the top local SoCal shops in the area and is very well respected by the Porsche enthusiast community.

This Porsche saw the mechanic at least 2-3 times each year and had frequent oil services/inspections

The condition of this GT3 is excellent. Since the car was wrapped, there are minimal signs of use. Most of the paint is original and verified with a paint meter. The left rear quarter got scratched in a minor parking lot incident and it was professionally repaired by well-known John Esposito. It looks perfect. The tires are Toyo Proxes and have at least half-life remaining. The brakes have well over 75% life left. Other than the addition of the removable rollbar, this GT3 is stock and non-modified.

The interior is equally nice. The alcantera seat surfaces are in very good condition. There are minimal signs of use and it looks like what you would expect from a low-mile example. All the switches/gauges work properly.

Of course, driving a GT3 is something special. This is everything you would expect from a race ready street Porsche. The throttle response is lightening quick. The gearbox shifts quickly with precise clicks and smooth action. The brakes are amazing. Firm and consistent pedal pressure…probably one of the best features.

This GT3 comes with all the owner’s manuals, recent service records, wheel removal socket, factory tools/tire repair kit, and an extra key.
