A virtually as-new Testarossa; truly an investment-grade example

From the moment it was unveiled to a select group of media and clients at the famed Lido nightclub on the Champs-Élysees the night before the opening of the 1984 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari's dramatic Testarossa took the world by storm and was instantly regarded as a styling icon. Not only did the Testarossa find its way into the garages of over 7,000 enthusiasts, it also earned a place of honour on many a child's bedroom wall, becoming the poster-child for a generation.

As the Testarossa was being implemented as the replacement for the aging Berlinetta Boxer models, Pininfarina decided to take this as an opportunity to move the car's styling in a completely different direction from its predecessor and thus utilised long side-strakes along the doors and rear three-quarter panels, in an effort to channel air into the car's dual rear-mounted radiators to keep both the engine and cabin from overheating. Mechanically, this was a huge improvement over the outgoing 512 BBi. The Testarossa's five-litre, flat-twelve engine boasted four valves per cylinder, bringing more horsepower and breathability over the engine in its predecessor, with horsepower being increased to 390 and a top speed reaching just over 180 mph. Creature comforts were also addressed, and the Testarossa grew by nearly half a foot in width and 2.5 inches in wheelbase to accommodate for more space in the cabin for its two passengers and their luggage.

This example was delivered new in Denmark in 1991, and at this time, it was finished in Giallo Fly with a Nero leather interior. It was retained by the dealership where it was delivered as stock inventory, and there it would remain for the next 17 years, perfectly preserved as a virtually brand-new Testarossa. It was finally purchased by its first and only owner in March 2008. This owner opted to refinish the car in Rosso Corsa and spared no expense in doing so.

As such, the car remains today in truly incredible condition, showing just 400 kilometres on its odometer. This full matching-numbers example is virtually spotless both inside and out, appearing as if it left Maranello just days ago, and it is offered with a full set of books, a complete tool kit, and three sets of keys.

The Testarossa was truly the quintessential Ferrari of the 1980s, and it is still one of the marque's most recognisable and iconic automobiles. As the model is quickly gaining interest in the collector car market, low-mileage, well-preserved examples are becoming difficult to find, and this example is certainly one of the finest in existence, having just one owner from new and only 400 kilometres on its odometer. An opportunity such as this is highly unlikely to repeat itself, and as such, this is a Testarossa not to be missed.
