1996 was the last year for gas engine Hummers and this particular truck is very unique with a number of upgrades and only 5760 miles of use. This one owner Hummer was part of a major Northern California automotive collector’s fleet and was treated to the best of care, always garaged and never driven off road. This truck has the Wagon body style and came fully equipped from the factory including the central tire inflation system, third seat, 12,000 lb. winch, and driving lamps. It has received all of its normal service and is in BRAND NEW condition.

Known History

Because this car was going to be kept in the owner’s private automotive collection he wanted it to be special and stand head and shoulders above any other Hummer H1. After performing a complete concours level detail on the car he added a custom leather Momo steering wheel. carbon fiber dash trim, custom leather, Clarion 380RC Premium AM/FM casette stereo system, and black power coated wheels. In keeping with his old school Hot Rod roots, the final touch was the application of spectacular hand painted pinstriping to accent the Hummers lines.

The performance of this Hummer is outstanding with over 450 horsepower coming from the 5.7L Lysholm Supercharged V8. The 5700 Vortec engine was the latest production Generation I small-block from Chevrolet and features combustion chambers very similar to those of the LT1 V8. It is “bullet proof” totally reliable and used by GM in top of the line Escalades, Tahoes, and Suburban SUVs. 1996 was the last year it was offered in the Hummer H1. The Lysholm twin screw supercharger is the best in the business and meets the all standards set by OEMs (The new Ford GT came equipped from Ford with a Lysholm supercharger).

The GM 350 is more powerful and quieter than the diesel powered Hummers. They are also more desirable due to engine problems with the diesel. A major problem cropped up with the turbo diesels in 1996 into the 2000 model years. They are at risk for a cracked engine block due to a GM design flaw. A gas truck will also allow much more compression engine braking then a diesel because of inherent design differences. This makes steep descents much easier to control which is very important when 4 wheeling.
