A 1939 Scott Clubmans Special Scott was a manufacturer of motorbikes based in Saltaire in Yorkshire which began business in 1908 and continued production until 1979. Very highly regarded the marque had great success in the early years of the Isle of Man TT races, providing a great proving ground for the company. After the Great War, the Squirrel introduced in 1922, followed by the Super Squirrel in 1925 and the Flying Squirrel in 1926 made the Scott Motorcycle truly famous. The 1939 Clubman Special weighed over 400lbs but due to the highly tuned engine had a claimed top speed of over 90mph.

This 'Special' was built up in England by a Scott enthusiast who wished to build a practical bike for everyday use. It is based on a 1939 Clubman Special (mechanicals, frame, tank) with later (mid 1950's) forks, wheels, lights. It is also fitted with weather proof electric connectors for wet weather riding and an alternator rather than the original chain driven mag dyno. This Scott is in good condition having been restored, including new pistons, rebore, rings, recored radiator, reconditioned alternator and ignition and new wiring, in the late 1990s and only ridden twice since. Highly collectable, this rare bike, engine number DPY4721CS, is one for the cognoscenti. The bike is accompanied by a full workshop manual and approximately 60 issues of the English Scott Owners Club journals.
