A Cobra of outstanding originality, chassis #2480 was invoiced to ‘Foreign Cars of Rockland, New York’ in September of 1964 as Vineyard Green with a black interior, optional extras including 5 chrome wheels and a black ‘Landou’ hardtop. On a rainy day in 1968 college student Gilbert Jackson went to buy #2480 from its first owner, and after agreeing to buy the car he used it regularly until 1970 when he took it off the road with a head gasket problem. This work coincided with the start of Gilbert’s now legendary collecting of Ford competition cars, a collection that included three GT40’s, his beloved Cobra being stored until the day his collection allowed him the time to lavish the attention it deserved. Many years passed and with declining health, the Cobra passed into new ownership just two years ago. With the odometer showing only 14,500 miles, chassis 3480 has been the subject of an extensive $100,000 mechanical restoration, a restoration that sympathetically restored and refreshed all the mechanical components including the brakes, suspension, engine and gearbox whilst carefully retaining the unique patina that you see today. An almost ‘new’ 1964 AC Cobra!
