Known History

In the fifties, when the motor cars were more and more built with monocoque constructions, the art of coachbuilding was disappearing. Freestone & Webb Ltd, who were specialised Rolls-Royce and Bentley coachbuilders, ceased in 1958, after only 17 coaches on a Silver Cloud I chassis and 24 on a Bentley S1 chassis. Only seven Bentley S1 4-door 6-light saloons were built to design 3191/A, chassis number B297AP being the last one.

The chassis of B297AP was built in 1955 and Freestone & Webb completed the body in 1956. The first owner was Ewart T. Hawthorne who registered the car in Northants, England. The Bentley is in The Netherlands since 1973. After a while the colour scheme of two-tone brown was changed into white.

A major service has been completed. Additional proceedings and replaced parts were: engine oil and filter replaced, fuel filter removed, cleaned and fitted, gearbox oil and rubbers replaced and filter cleaned, valves adjusted and valve seals replaced, brake hoses replaced, front and rear brake cilinders overhauled, master cilinder overhauled.
