| From its 1961 debut, Jaguar’s seductive E-Type achieved instant icon status by virtue of its sublimely curvaceous coachwork, competition-proven DOHC XK engine, and stunning performance at an attainable price level. In the following years, the Series I E-Type was made more comfortable and faster, before a major revision was required for the 1968 model year. Numbered 1E33956, this outstanding Fixed Head Coupe beautifully maintains its factory appearance with numerous welcome updates further enhancing the driving experience.
Recently rotisserie-restored and striking in BASF Glasurit single-stage paint in the original Old English White, complemented by a completely restored leather interior in period correct Jaguar Red, this E-Type has traveled only about 400 miles since completion. The engine was rebuilt, balanced, blueprinted, and upgraded with competition-grade bearings and pistons, high-performance camshafts, upgraded carburetors, stainless-steel exhaust manifolds, and two-inch performance exhaust. Now producing more than 360 hp (over 100 more than stock), the engine is matched with a new Medatronics JT5 five-speed manual gearbox unlocking further performance. Additional speed items include a Ron Davis Racing aluminum radiator and cooling fan, and aluminum flywheel. Chassis and handling upgrades include Koni adjustable shock absorbers, Zeus stainless-steel four-piston front-brake calipers, and 205/70/15 radial tires. The original clutch assembly, gearbox, radiator, and a volume of organized receipts and photographs accompany this exceptional Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe at auction.
