Known History

In 1936 the Mercedes-Benz type 170 V was introduced at the 26th International Automobile- and Motorcycle Exhibition in Berlin. This model, featuring a four-stroke spark-ignition engine M 136, was not only more modern in terms of technology and style than its precursor, the type 170 – it also had more power. Accordingly, it was no surprise that the 170 V was Mercedes-Benz's most produced passenger car in the time before the war.

According to the excerpt from the order book at hand, this vehicle was first delivered as convertible B to the army's high command in Berlin in May 1939. According to the previous owner, the car went to England after the war and received a new body from the company “Hooper“ (London) at a later point. What is particularly worthwhile mentioning is the basketwork, of which the body's center section and the seats were made. The vehicle was in possession of a collector for many years and is in very good and ready-to-use condition.
