Launched in 1993, Porsche’s 993-generation 911 series remains historic as the final expression of the original air-cooled design. The 993 Turbo debuted at the March 1995 Geneva Show, featuring 959-inspired all-wheel drive and twin turbochargers. As the end of production neared, Rolf Sprenger’s Porsche Exclusive department secured a batch of the last bodies and took the Turbo to the next level with the Turbo S for 1997. Packing 424 horsepower for the US and RoW (Rest of World) markets, the Turbo S featured myriad updates throughout and was visually distinguished by vented rear fenders, yellow brake calipers, a special rear spoiler, four-tipped exhaust system, and an Aerokit front spoiler with special ventilation and fog-light placement. From introduction, the Turbo S was – and remains – a tour de force as one of the most powerful and sophisticated Porsche models ever unleashed, with stunning performance credentials including a 186-mph top speed. Completed on March 18, 1997, and delivered new on May 15 to Roger Beasley Porsche in Austin, Texas, this Turbo S is one of just 183 built and 176 for the US market. It was purchased new by a Houston resident and retained until recently. In addition to the plethora of standard equipment found on a Turbo S, this example was ordered in optional Ocean Blue Metallic paint with leather upholstery in deviating colors, plus footwell lighting, door storage compartment lighting, CD holders in the console, carbon/leather steering wheel, infrared security system, lumbar support, digital sound package, and a remote CD changer. In addition to its rich leather upholstery, the interior compartment features carbon-fiber accents and aluminum for the shifter, hand-brake handle, and instrument facings. Carefully garaged, maintained, and preserved with approximately 22,000 documented miles of use from new, this Turbo S is accompanied by CARFAX and AutoCheck reports. Much of its service work was performed by Porsche of West Houston, an official dealer. Importantly, this 993 Turbo S is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original window sticker, books in their proper sleeve, data cards, pamphlets, and vouchers. The 993 also comes with two sets of keys, tool roll, the unused air compressor and spare assembly, an umbrella, a factory car cover, first-aid kit, and roadside emergency triangle. Purposefully beautiful, exceedingly rare, and truly exhilarating, this 993 Turbo S is one of the finest and most desirable modern Porsche supercars and stands as the ultimate expression of the original air-cooled 911 series. As such, it is worthy of the most discerning and enthusiastic Porsche collector.
