Offered from a lifetime of loving, single family care, this Porsche 356 B Roadster was purchased new in January 1960 by Dr. R.W. Rodgers of Dickinson, North Dakota, who enjoyed it with his wife Beth until he passed away that September. Subsequently, Mrs. Rodgers sparingly drove the beloved Porsche, housing it in her well-ordered garage. Following Mrs. Rodgers’ passing in 1976, her daughter and son-in-law drove the Roadster to their Kansas home, where they later licensed it “Old Red.” In the spring 1978, the car was struck by an errant truck in downtown Wichita, necessitating repairs and replacement of the front fender and nose with OEM body parts. Later that summer, they entered the Roadster at the 23rd annual National Porsche Parade held in Aspen, Colorado, with the repaired but otherwise essentially unrestored car earning a creditable Third in Class. Since 1980, Mrs. Rodgers’ grandson has spearheaded the vehicle’s preservation. Always sparingly driven and properly maintained, the Roadster remains unrestored, with less than 29,000 original miles. Aging gracefully, and remaining highly attractive, “Old Red” displays the wonderful patina one would expect of a cherished 55-year-old Porsche. A wealth of documents accompanies its sale, including the original sales contract, owner’s manual, parts catalog, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and Kardex, plus the original tool kit and other important accessories. Rare, largely original, and with a charming history, this 356 B Roadster marks an exceptional find.
