Utilizing Superleggera-style techniques, a framework of five tubes was constructed, supporting a hand built and welded aluminum skin. Weight is the enemy of performance, but with the venerable aluminum AC engine block, the Ace weighed well under 2,000 pounds, giving the much developed six little opposition in its class. CL2290, wearing Black paintwork over Red upholstery. The Ace presumably spent much of its time in southern California with recorded owner Mr. Irving Davis of Beverly Hills. The car then made its way to Switzerland, and eventually sold by Old-Timer Garage in Bern to Dr. Padow of Florida on August 30, 1982. Reported to be in excellent condition as a Best of Class and multiple show winner with 21,110 recorded miles. It returned back to the States on September, 12 1982 via Air Canada flight AC566 to Miami. Mr. Padow, a resident of Plantation, Florida would go on to meticulously care for and show this spectacular early long-boot, drum brake example for the following 33 years. He was mindful to save every document, service and parts receipt from his purchase to present, and the vehicle itself has long been well known as always an exceptionally correct and pristine example. In September 1991, this already great car received a freshening, along with another in 1994 with extreme effort expended to locate or replicate all correct details. Mountainous documentation reflects Mr. Padow's attention to detail and continual upkeep from purchase. An ACOC and AACA member, this multiple AACA Senior National First Prize Winner (1987, 1990, 1994) garnered such awards from the Las Olas Boulevard Classics Auto Show and 1st place at the inaugural Amelia Island Concours in 1996 among many others throughout the years.
