In 1971, the iconic 350SL was introduced, which was designed by Bruno Sacco, who also designed the S-Class sedans of the 1970s. The new SL, known internally as Type R107, was larger and more rounded in style than its predecessor, with steel body panels and a more luxurious interior. The majority of production was destined for the important North American market, and fitted with a 4.5-litre V8 engine coupled to a three-speed automatic transmission. Most notably, the new SL provided more predictable handling thanks to their revised rear swing-axles, which were altered to function as semi-trailing arms. As expected, the cars were constantly updated, refined, and improved, and remained in production for nearly 20 years.

This 1982 380SL is offered with complete history, as well as both hard and soft tops. Powered by a 155-horsepower, 3.8-liter V8 engine with a standard four-speed automatic transmission, this 380SL remains a very desirable example of these solid, highly refined and enjoyable automobiles. Best of all, they still benefit from strong factory support with ample supplies of parts, and are consequently easy to own, maintain, and enjoy. It will continue to represent the legendary Mercedes-Benz marque, and provide many miles of pleasure.
