The 993 series of Porsche’s venerable 911 was introduced in 1995, and developed at an estimated cost of over 300 million dollars. While the new 911 retained its rear-mounted, air-cooled engine, the new 911 benefited from a restyled body reminiscent of the 959, and a more ergonomic interior. Initially offered in coupe and cabriolet body styles, the 993 remains notable today as the final edition of the air-cooled 911. Mechanically, the 3.6-litre engine received a low-mass valvetrain, maintenance-free hydraulic valve lifters, lighter reciprocating parts, a stiffened crankshaft, a revised exhaust system, and an updated Bosch Motronic engine-management system. A revised rear suspension provided more predictable handling, and braking performance improved as well. In turn, these refinements brought a meaningful increase in output to 270 horsepower, while peak torque climbed to 243 pounds-feet.

Motor Trend testers confirmed the value of these updates, with the Carrera 2 Coupe capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour 5.3 seconds, en route to a 13.8-second quarter-mile time and a top speed of 168 miles per hour. The 911 Carrera 2 offered here is a fully certified and emissions-tested Canadian car that features a six-speed manual transmission, a leather-trimmed interior, sport seats, and 17-inch Porsche Carrera Cup-design wheels. For the true Porsche enthusiast, this 1995 Carrera 2 presents a prime opportunity to acquire one of the finest examples of the final air-cooled 911.
