Since 1964, when Porsche produced the first 911, there have been many many incarnations right upto when the Carrera was introduced in 1984. The new 3.2 litre car replaced the 3.0 L SC model. It was badged '911 Carrera' but known as '3.2 Carrera', the first time the sporty label had been applied to the basic 911. Power was increased, brakes were better, the fuel injection was upgraded to enhance everyday reliability and the car was more refined. The non-Turbo models became available as 'Turbo-look' or 'Super Sport', a style that aped the Turbo with wide wheel-arches and the 'whale-tail' but did not reflect any mechanical changes. In 1987, the Carrera got a new five-speed gearbox sourced from Getrag, model number G50 which included a hydraulic clutch. The 911 Speedster, a low-roof version of the Cabriolet, evocative of the Porsche 356 Speedster of the 1950's was produced in limited numbers. The Carrera Club Sport from 1987 (340 produced) is highly collectible. It was stripped of electric windows, electric seats, and radio to save a claimed 50 kg in weight. Its engine was allowed to rev higher, and the engine developed a little more power.

This extremely sharp example of the Stuttgart's iconic sportscar comes with an enormous history file. In it, you will find evidence of its initial delivery to Ian Anthony Bury Ltd selling then to the first owner, a member of Her Majesty's Armed Forces, the first 7 years service history undertaken at Manheim Porsche in Germany where its then owner was based. It was then bought back to the UK and sold first through Cotswold Sports Cars in Bristol and then through Dick Lovett Porsche Centre in Swindon. The majority of works undertaken however were by Leigh's Garage in Fulham, arguably one of the finest Porsche mechanics in the county. The last 9 services were done by this man and the vendor, meticulous to a fault, always instructed the works recommended at the end of one bill to be carried out on the next. The hood has been replaced with a proper Mohair unit, there is a Category 1 Thatcham Alarm and immobiliser fitted and just a few years ago, Mitre Coachworks (Porsche specialists) charged £2,500 on labour alone for a complete respray. The service book is fully stamped and upto date and comes complete with a new tax disc and MoT certificate.
