Porsche 968 Club Sport: for racing or road use
| The Porsche 968 was produced between 1993 and 1995 as the successor to the enormously successful Porsche 944. It was the final car in a line of front-engined touring Porsches that began with the 924. Despite the close family resemblence, the 968 was basically an all-new car, sharing just 20% of components with its 944 predecessor.
The Club Sport was a light weight version of the 968 offered by the factory for the benefit of enthusiast racer/drivers. By doing away with "luxuries" such as electric windows and installing light-weight recaro seats instead of the standard adjustable leather seats, Porsche was able to shave around 100kgs from the weight of the standard 968. The result is one of the best handling and most useable track day car ever built by the company. The 968 CS has neutral handling characteristics thanks to its gearbox on the back axle, which allied to a very torquey 4 cylinder 3 litre engine make it one of the most fun and drivable track car you could own.
The 968 Club Sport was offered in six colours only: grand prix white, black, speed yellow, guards red, riviera blue or maritime blue. This example is finished in stunning maritime blue.It is all original, and drives and looks virtually like new. There are no marks on the paint, and the wheels are the correct rare alloy ones from the factory.
This Porsche has been in the collection of a prominent former Porsche racing driver and marque enthusiast for a number of years. Its condition is a real credit to the love and care lavished by its owner and it defies the mileage of 143,000. Anything that has needed to be changed or done to the car has been done including the engine, rebuild by Parr Motorsport, and other major components like gearbox, axles, hubs and brakes have all been subject of this attention. It comes with a very comprehensive file of service bills and original books from new.
This practical, fast and eye catching Porsche is available within a very sensible budget. Viewing highly recommended.
