This RUF RGT RS started life as a body in white form Porsche, assembled to Alois Ruf Jr.'s exact specifications for his personal use. Every RUF modification must meet Alois's objective to not interfere with driveability, reliability or serviceability. In 2004, The RGT RS was RUF's version of the modern Porsche GT3 only more powerful and lightened. This particular RGT RS is the naturally aspirated lightweight version, inspired by the 73 IROC Carrera RS. Ruf added a performance suspension system, using Bilstine components, as well as high-performance Brembo disc brakes, measuring 13.8 inches 351mm in front and 13 inches 330mm in the rear. The car's appearance is changed using a body kit that includes a polyurethane front air dam. Carbon fiber doors, hood, mirrors, engine lid and spoiler, all of which reduce the cars weight to 2,990 pounds. The car id fitted with RUF 19 inch Superleggera wheels and Michelin Pilot sport cup tires. Finally, the RGT RS is customized with interior trim of the customer's choice including Recaro seats and the deletion of unnecessary parts to save weight. The integrated Roll cage is an extremely unique feature of the RUF manufactured cars. the IRC is built in as a structural piece of the car soon after receiving the body in white from Porsche. The interior panels are built around the IRC and most of it is hidden with the exception of the harness section and a small section of the B pillars. the IRC adds an incredible amount of safety and rigidity to the chassis and it is an unmistakable difference on the feel of the ca. Approximately 35 of the 996 based RGT TS's were produced worldwide and just 2 were manufactured for the U.S. market. the MSRP was $200,000 in the U.S. and Porsche required the RS designation to be dropped from both U.S. units. Finished in the famous IROC color Mexico Blue over Black interior, this RGT RS is equally appeasing to the eye as it is in performance. Mexico Blue was used on 2 units, this naturally aspirated model and a Turbo model making this RGT RS truly unique. the 3.6L Flat 6 produces 395HP and 300FT lbs of torque by taking the Mezger engine and adding RUF cams, RUF exhaust, RUF engine management and RUF induction.
