The Jaguar XJ-S had been under development since 1968 and as a 2+2 fixed head coupe it was intended as a replacement for the now legendary E Type. From the beginning it was only available with the V12 engine which gave excellent performance with 0-60mph being dispatched in a very respectable 6.9 seconds allied to a top speed of 150mph. Later in the XJ-S’s life it was also available with a six cylinder engine and a manual gearbox. As with any vehicle that has had as long a production life as the XJ-S, there have been major developments. Two of the more significant ones for the XJ-S were the launch of the Cabriolet in 1983 and later, in May 1988, the Convertible.

Manufactured in 1990 this XJS convertible is finished in red with a cream leather interior. Described by the vendor as being in good condition throughout and we are also informed the paint work is excellent. Supplied with a full service history, V5 document and a current MoT certificate valid until May 2010, the car is ready to be enjoyed.

In the current market this example represents exceptional value for money and is the ideal way to enjoy open air motoring whilst still maintaining the gentleman’s club effect. Luxury open top motoring rarely becomes this accessible.
