Sold: £3,750

The Porsche 911 is perhaps the most timeless design ever seen in motoring history. The car dominated its class as soon as it was launched in September 1963. Today, albeit very much more developed, it continues to attract adulation from enthusiasts and the motoring press alike. This unconventional and charismatic car evolved at an astonishing pace in its early life, with significant developments occurring annually during the late sixties and early seventies.

In 1967 the Targa version of the 911 was introduced. The Targa had a removable roof panel and introduced the Targa as a ‘stop gap’ model. The name ‘Targa’ came from the Targa Florio road race in Sicily, in which Porsche had notable success: 11 victories in total.

For the 1970 model year the engines of all 911s was increased to 2195cc power outputs were up-rated to approximately 125 bhp.

Manufactured in 1973 this particular left hand drive Targa is finished in red and supplied with a current MoT test certificate. The owner informs us that the car drives but would benefit from some attention.

Offered at no reserve this early 1970s Porsche represents excellent value for money for anybody looking to acquire one of these legendary sports cars for their own collection.
