1974 ROVER 3500S SERIES II
Chassis no: 48200867D
Engine no. 48109784
Sharing the same body and features of the smaller 2000 P6 saloon, plus the de Dion rear suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, the 3500 was available only with an automatic transmission until 1971 when the four-speed manual 3500S model was released. The letter "S" denoted Synchromesh and, noticeably quicker than the automatic model, was able to achieve 0-60 mph in 9 secs, compared to 10.1 secs for the automatic car. This gearbox was a modified version of the Rover 2000 and 2200 to handle the additional torque. The Rover 3500 & 3500 S were both discontinued in June, 1976.
This example, finished in Rover Tumeric with the Everflex vinyl roof in black, carries the spare wheel on the boot lid within its original cover. This car compliments the extensive range of Rovers already in the collection and further provenance is being sought after at the time of print. With approximately 67,600 miles on the clock, this car represents one of three P6 Rovers in the sale and it provides an excellent opportunity to acquire a car from this collection within an affordable price range.
