1968 Porsche 911 T/R

Chassis Number 118252233

This 911 T is a piece of Porsche motor sport history. It was used in Italian period racing intensively.

The car was born as a regular Porsche 911 T in 1968 and was delivered on 22.04.1968 in burgundy red by Autogerma in Bologna / Italy to the first owner Paolo Ninu in Rome. The engine number at delivery was # 2081145.

In spring 1969 the 911 was returned to the Porsche factory Werk 1 in Stuttgart to modify the engine to high performance.
(“auf Höchstleistung” / see Kardex –Card attached).

Everardo Ostini was a wealthy Italian private race driver, who drove on Porsche (910 / 906) and Abarth in the 1960ies.

He bought the car in 1969 and shared it during the 1969 season with the famous Gianpietro Moretti, the founder of MOMO steering wheels, race driver and IMSA team patron. Moretti’s racing-pseudonym in 1969 was “Nomex”.

Both participated in this 911 T at the Targa Florio on May 4th 1969 and finished 1. place in the GT class (1.601 – 2.000 ccm) and 10th overall!

Ostini / Moretti also won the races at Volterra, Celico-Montescuro and Enna-Pergusa. At the Grand Premio Mugello Ostini became second, but it was enough to win the Italian GT Championship in the 2 liter class in 1969.

In 1970 the car was modified to group 4 spec with wide fenders by its new owner Giovanni Borri. Borri also was a private Porsche racer in the 1970ies. He painted the car to the new livery “light blue und orange” and upgraded the engine to Group 4 eligible double ignition.
Borri was also an active private racer and participated in many events in 1971 such as:

- Pistoia
- Vernasca
- Tolmezzo
- Salsomaggiore
- Trento Bondone and Siena

He became 4th overall in the Italian GT class championship in 1971.

In 1972 Borri drove the car at rallyes, hill climbs and circuits:

- Varano
- Vernasca
- Sila
- Bolzano – Mendola
- Monza
- Trento-Bondone
- Carotti
- Belluno
- Intereuropa Monza

In 1972 Giovanni Borri made two class wins and his first win over all.

He sold the car to the raceteam of Enzo Boldrien and moved on with Porsche 2,7 RS and 2,8 RSR in the following years.

From 1973 on the car was not used in motorsport any more. It seems that the car never had a major damage. Last owner in Italy was the race team owner Enzo Boldrien. He disassembled the car in the 1990ies and painted it new in light blue and orange but never finished the restoration.

After Boldrien’s death the car was completed in 2006/2007 and bought by a German collector in 2008 who rebuilt the engine in 2011 himself in cooperation with Paul Pietsch (wellknown Porsche engine specialist).

Today # 118252233 is in the hands of a German collector since 2014 and is regularly used on track days and classic car events.

This amazing Porsche 911 T is now for sale. It has a wonderful patina and comes with a large history file and DMSB/FIA pass. A truly unique opportunity to purchase a highly eligible piece of Porsche racing history.
