1983 Ferrari 512 BBi

The Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer was introduced to the public at the 1976 Paris Motor Show. The engine was a longitudinally mounted 12-cylinder turned 180 degrees and mounted mid-ship. With the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and DOHC, the naturally aspirated engine produced 340 horsepower
, capable of propelling the car from zero to sixty in just 5.6 seconds and had a top speed of 174 mph. During its production run lasting from 1981 through 1984, only 1007 examples of the Pininfarina designed Ferrari 512 BBi were produced. The 512 BBi was replaced by the famous and highly successful Testarossa.

The five-liter engine was constructed of a light-weight alloy material. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. The brakes were ventilated discs with vacuum servo-assist. The excellent performance and handling matched the vehicles exquisite design, drawing attention where ever it went.

With just over 1000 examples produced, its exclusivity and rarity is guaranteed. It continued the Ferrari mid-engine tradition that began with the 206 GT Dino. It drew its styling from the 1970's 365 GT4 BB, although it retained a design that was unique and modern.

Ferrari introduced a new mid-engine car at the 1971 Turin Motor Show to compete with the Lamborghini Miura and the Maserati Bora supercars. It was developed from the ground up and given a low profile that was wide and clothed in gorgeous Pininfarina design and hand-built by Scaglietti. Power was from the 'boxer' twelve-cylinder engine that displaced 4.4-liters. This new model was named the 365 GT4 BB and was finally made into a production car in 1973. It was marketed as the fastest road car ever offered by Ferrari.

Over the years, Ferrari continued to improve upon the model. In 1976, they released the 551 BB, with an enlarged engine and a large improvement in torque. Three years later, in 1981, they introduced the 512 BBi at the Paris Salon. The 'i' represented the installation of Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection which made it easier to comply with U.S. emissions standards. Zero-to-sixty was impressive, taking just 5.4 seconds with top speed realized at around 175 miles per hour.

I bought this car over 3 years ago. It is rare white with tan interior. Only 18,670 miles. Car is beautiful and great to drive.
