Known History

Introduced in 1995, at first only with open body, the Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by the Bavarian house. The Z3 Coupe comes with a sporty driving thanks to the back seat, behind the rear axle and the more retro items like the pair of the side air vents, one each side, placed on the front fenders behind the wheels, useful to recall BMW 507 forty years ago; and characterized by a pavilion-type "hatchback" with almost vertical tailgate.

The Z3 has front and rear-wheel drive, relatively long wheelbase, wide front track and rear, short overhangs given the relatively limited length, with almost equal weight distribution, low center of gravity, but comfortable sports suspension, power steering rack in direct and precise as well as a course powerful disc brake system with an efficient ABS.

In 1999 The model undergoes a makeover: is updated with lifting operations in the back. In particular, they redesigned the rear wheel arches, which are more sinuous and rounded, and the rear bumper fascia. The taillights take on a form to "L" and the interiors are revised. The operations are concentrated in the central area where redraws the tunnel between the seats. As regards the mechanical weights with a better distribution between the two axles are optimized.

The Z3 offers systematic protection to its passengers due to the rigid body with crumple zones collapse, built-in side impact protection and airbags for driver and front passenger number.

The multiple tubular structures in the front and the vertical support riser pipes with built-fastening behind the seats for the safety belts, helping to achieve the maximum degree of passive safety.

Standard electronic traction control, ABS and other electronic control systems such as Automatic Stability Control plus Traction (ASC + T), which prevents wheel spin on slippery background, improving adherence to the ground in gear curve and departing.
