The 275 GTS was launched alongside the 275 GTB in October 1964 at the Paris Salon, the GTS was an overdue replacement for Ferrari's Series II 250 GT PF Cabriolet that had ceased production back in 1962. Producing 280bhp, the GTS was still a formidable performer. With its top speed of 147mph and 0-60 requiring just 6.6 seconds, little else could match it as a great all-rounder due to its excellent chassis shared with the GTB, independent suspension all round, a silky smooth yet powerful and torquey 3.3 Litre V12, disc brakes all round and of course a 5 speed transaxle to match. These attributes, especially the 5 speed gearbox, make a 275 GTS a delight to own and enjoy in the modern environment.

This car offered for sale by DK Engineering is one of just 200 cars built by Ferrari. It was completed in April 1965 for dispatch to the legendary US importer Luigi Chinetti, the factory specification was Rosso Cina with Nero Franzi interior, with instruments in miles and to be fitted with a rare factory hardtop. It was with its first owner in San Francisco in time for the Summer of 1965. In 1972 the car was purchased by a fellow Californian, Dan Clements who would own the car for the next decade, the car would then remain in California until in 1986 the car was purchased by the David Nelson of Ohio a well-known Ferrari collector and aficionado; during his ownership the car was totally restored in Italy by some of the most well-known artisans of the time. In the following custodianship the car returned to California and was regularly shown at prestigious concours and Ferrari gatherings. In 2004, following an exacting cosmetic and mechanical refresh by the Texas based and world famous Bob Smith, the car was shown at the famous Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance in Florida. Since the restoration the car has been fanatically maintained and this wonderful 275 GTS is offered in a "needs nothing" condition equally well suited to driving or returning to the show field.

This car represents an opportunity to acquire a wonderful example of what is a fast appreciating, undeniably pretty and very competent GTS Ferrari from the golden mid-sixties era of Ferrari history.
