The high specification 83.5 bhp 2.44 litre four cylinder twin cam engined overdrive gearbox Riley 16/4 Blue Streak Kestrels (also known as Big Fours) are very rare machines. I think only 32 of the approximate total of 350 Big Fours made were supplied as these fast-back sports models with the majority of the chassis being fitted with more upright Adelphi saloon bodies. This particular car has been the subject of a comprehensive restoration which was carefully documented and photographed at a detailed level so you can see for yourself the high standard of work done. As a result of all the time and effort put into it this Kestrel is in top condition throughout and it really looks and feels the part of a rapid 1930s sports saloon which was aimed at the same 2.5 litre market as machines like SS Jaguars and MG WAs. The car has strong acceleration and easy overdrive assisted cruising combined with positive steering, good suspension and powerful brakes. It was when it was new and still is a very elegant, fast and desirable motor car. It is remarkable value for money when you compare it with other post vintage sports saloons on offer in todays market!
