Upon hearing that the new Jaguar D-Type was lapping Le Mans at 155mph and exceeding 170mph on the straight, Mercedes withdrew their team from the event. They realised that the new Jaguar sports competition car was something very special. In fact so special, that Jaguar went onto win at LeMans consecutively for the next three years in the D-Type! We are proud to offer XKD 535, originally campaigned by Rudolfo Bay throughout the 1956 and 1957 seasons, successfully competing in the Portuguese GP, and breaking the record at the Galapager hill climb in Spain. Subsequently retired to become a permanent exhibit at the Le Mans museum for 25 years until being acquired by Ralph Lauren for his prestigious collection.

Subsequently restored byJohn Pearson, proven on a recent Mille Miglia and with the mileage showing just over 19,000 miles, XKD 535 must be regarded as one of the most desirable D-Types in existence.
