Daimler-Benz first totally new Mercedes-Benz series of passenger vehicles produced post-war, which replaced the Type170 in 1953, were dubbed ‘ponton’, their nickname coming from the German word for pontoon used to describe the shape of their bumpers.
Also produced in Saloon or Coupe form, the Type W180 220 6-cylinder Ponton Saloon was manufactured 1954-1959. Our car is the SE derivative denoting Fuel Injection.
Totally restored to concours standard, without regard to cost. Beautifully finished in Ice Green over Sage with Dark Green mohair style fabric hood and soft tan leather upholstery. The detail is exquisite and includes fitted luggage. A particularly pleasing feature is the specially designed draft screen to the rear of the front seats.
Offered for sale with UK registration, fresh MOT certificate and duty exempt licence disc. This must be the best example available anywhere!
