Known History

The C11 Lumineuse is the perfect representative for Voisin design, displaying all the creative solutions deployed by the marque. It had an ultra-light body weighing less than 380 kg, an original operating system for the windows, unique door opening mechanism, a windscreen that opened and special Voisin lighting, a whole host of features specific to Voisin, of enormous interest to enthusiasts. The 6-cylinder 2 326cc valveless engine by Knight was coupled to a 3-speed gearbox. Dewandre servo-assisted brakes on all four wheels ensured efficient braking. The Dynastart starter was instantaneous, and the car was astonishingly quiet in motion. Only two or three other examples of these rare 4-door Lumineuse Voisin-bodied cars have survived. One belongs to a famous American collector, and another is in poor condition in a private collection. The name 'Lumineuse' reflects the large area of glass used in the passenger compartment. The car was built entirely from aluminium, including the floor, making it remarkably agile for such an imposing saloon car at that time. The Avions-Voisin on offer conforms completely to the original. The interior has been upholstered with Voisin fabric remanufactured in Lyon at the request of the current owner. The coachwork has been repainted in its original colour, identified using spectrometric analysis of a trace of paint. There are storage chests in the wings in superb condition, and a complete toolkit on the running boards. The current owner has had it since 1973 and has lavished huge attention on the car. He has ensured that every detail has been returned to the original specification. The engine and gearbox have been completely rebuilt to a very high standard. The car won the Louis Lescure Trophy at the Rallye des Marques 2000, awarded by the Hispano-Suiza Club. It also won the Uranie Prize at the Autostar Vincennes 2002. It is in perfect running condition and has been covering over 1000 km annually, to take part in various events. The car comes with its FIVA passport.

We would like to thank M. Pascal Courteault, author of the book " Automobiles Voisin ", published by Editions White Mouse, for providing information on this vehicle.

*At Voisin the engine was not given the same number as the chassis. The vehicle presented has numbers that are complete and consistent with the factory.
