Known History

A true flagship of the Alfa Romeo range, the 2600 was also available as a luxury cabriolet since 1962 with four real seats and bodied by Touring. The powerpack was top of the range, as its 6-cylinders engine featured all-aluminum double overhead camshafts, mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a top speed of nearly 200 km/h. Its high selling price limited sales to just 2,255 units made.

The car on offer was produced on 22 September 1962, as confirmed by the Alfa Romeo register, and then sold on 28 September, the same year, in its Alfa red livery. After some time in the US, the car returned to Europe in 1992, when it was imported into Germany. In 2013, its previous owner repaired the braking system. Its current owner, a demanding enthusiast, gave the car a complete overhaul of the bodywork and the painting (invoice available) as well as the upholstery. The hood is in good condition and the chassis base has been fully processed in 2017. The mechanicals are working well and a cylinder compression test will be made before the sale. This 2600 is also equipped with an optional Blaupunkt car radio. Elegance and mechanical nobility contribute to making this one of the most successful grand touring cabriolets from the 1960s.
