Known History

Alfa Romeo amazes visitors of the 1966 Geneva Motor Show during the presentation of its Spider 1600 Duetto, a model nicknamed "Osso di seppia". Two years later, an "entry-level" one is proposed, equipped with the 1300cc engine. Distinctive detail: only the Spider 1300 retains the fixed-window deflectors.

Sold new in France, as certified by the chassis plates and a correspondence from Alfa Romeo Storico, this white Spider (Bianco spino) with faux-leather black interior was purchased by the President of an Alfa Romeo club in the south of France after being kept in the same hands for many years. It was then sold to a female enthusiast. The car was sound and its story was a good enough justification to have it restored. The car was dismantled, some bodywork interventions were done before painting it entirely (a file with pictures describes the work). The hood and floor mats are new. Mechanically, the engine has been restored, the timing chain and the oil pump are new, while the Weber carburettors, the fuel pump and fuel system have been revamped (tank stripped down and repainted). The ignition and the radiator have been reviewed, as well as the braking system, of which the mastervac was reconditioned.

A beautiful Spider with a French past, in its original colours and carefully restored by a passionate retired mechanic: Roll on summer!
