Known History

The Triumph TR3 belongs to the family of English roadsters that were the dream of an entire generation. The Triumph TR3 offered excellent performance for the time, reaching 175 kph at peak with the Laycock Normanville overdrive on option. Launched in 1953 at the initiative of Sir John Black, who took over the firm after the war, it met the demand of a clientele who wanted a simple, affordable sports car. It was initially named TR2, and thenTR3 two years later, but the most significant changes came with the TR3 A: a wider radiator grill resembling a smile, door handles and boot lid, separate rear indicator lights, slightly inset headlights.

The TR3 A we are offering is equipped with a wooden steering wheel and overdrive, which reduces wear on mechanical parts. It was restored in Italy a decade ago just before it received its ASI certification. It was then bought by a collector based in Monaco. It was through a renowned Monegasque specialist that the current owner purchased the car in 2015 for one of his daughters. It was then overhauled by his personal mechanic and a battery master switch was fitted. The car is very sound and presents very well. Robust, enchanting and fun to drive, the TR3 A embodies the pleasures collector cars have to offer.
