- Fireball's real name was Glenn Roberts. He got his nickname from his fastball as a pitcher at the University of Florida, not a racer. NASCAR's first superstar.
- First driver to lead every lap in a Winston Cup super speedway race at Hanford, California on a one mile track, March 12, 1961
- Won the Daytona 500 in 1962; 1957's Winston Cups most popular driver won his first pole position at North Wilkesboro. He died in 1964 at Charlotte at the World 600 in a firey crash in the opening laps
- He had 33 career wins, top qualifying 35 times, 93 top five finishes of his 203 starts By midyear 1957 NASCAR would not let the Ford 312 CI with supercharger run so they ran in the USAC circuit. Ralph Moody ran this car, #22 at the Milwaukee, Wisconsin one mile track and got 3 wins that summer. On August 22, 1957 Moody started on the pole going on to win the race with the #22 Ford. Despite the 3 wins at Milwaukee, the USAC title was won by Jerry Unser.
