![CDATA[
The MG B was launched in May 1962 to replace the MG A and was introduced as a four-cylinder roadster with a Coupé added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MG A and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Manual windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0–60mph time of just over 11 seconds, this was aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of MGB's strong points. The three-bearing 1798cc, B-Series engine produced 95bhp at 5,400rpm with the engine upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft in an effort to improve reliability.
This matching numbers 1965 MG B Roadster is one of the last of the desirable pull-out door handle cars and benefits from being one of the first B’s to be fitted with a five-bearing crankshaft engine. First supplied as new to the U.S. this MG B was imported to England a few years ago as part of a collection of rust free MG B’s, which were found in a barn waiting for restoration. This MG B has benefitted from a ground up rebuild. The body has been restored and repainted in red with new black seats, new black carpets, a new hood and all the chrome work re-plated. The car has been converted to righthand drive and the engine has been stripped down, bored out and completely rebuilt including a new cylinder head which is converted for unleaded fuel. The twin six volt batteries have been replaced by a single twelve volt unit and the car is now negative earth. The original gearbox has been replaced with a five speed unit supplied by the MG Car Club. Other improvements included an electronic ignition, high power starter motor, alternator, Minolite wheels, and Kenlow fan. This MG B roadster is supplied with a V5C registration document, the Heritage certificate and a couple of photographs of the body restoration, also included within the cars history file are the invoices relating to the parts used on the rebuild.]]
