Known History

The Aston Martin DB6 we are offering here is chassis DB6/3197/R, fitted with engine 400/2818. The car left the works in 1967 and was then finished in Dubonnet Rosso with Black Connolly leather to the interior and equipped with Borg Wagner 3 speeds automatic transmission as per what the factory build sheet shows us.

Non-standard equipment included power steering, chrome road wheels, heater rear screen, 3 ear hub caps, power aerial and safety belts. 3197/R’s first owner was Mr Martin Harvey Esq. of Luton in the UK and it will be maintained by the works until 1971.

We are able to track the recent history of as far back as 2005 when it was then owned by a certain Mr Lanni of Scotland. Back then Mr Lanni had the Aston Workshop to proceed with a thorough mechanical check up exceeding GBP 10.000,- expenses. As of 2006 the car passed on to Mr Kevin Bedrooms, also from Scotland. Further extensive cosmetic and mechanical work were carried out by marque experts Classic Restoration Ltd of Perthshire at that time. 3197/R comes with a large amount of records which confirm the rigorous maintenance carried out at that time.

Subsequently the car was put on auction at 2009 Aston sale and acquired by its current owner. Not exactly happy how the engine was sorted, he then decided instruct world class specialists RS Williams to proceed with a complete mechanical rebuild including engine, transmission, brakes, suspensions etc. reaching nearly GBP 200.000,- expenses. At that time a more comfortable and usable 4 speeds transmission has been installed whilst the original transmission was conserved and kept aside.

Showing less than 89.000 miles from new, 3197/R represents today one of the nicest sorted examples of its kind and is accompanied with an impressive restoration dossier throughout.

The car is “on the button”, European registered and ready for immediate enjoyment.
