In 1961, Lee Iacocca, vice president and general manager of Ford Division, had a vision. His vision was a car that would seat four people, have bucket seats, a floor mounted shifter, be no more than 180 inches long, and weigh less than 2500 pounds. Out of this vision, the Mustang was born. After many months of meetings, discussions and market surveys, funding was finally approved for the Mustang in September of 1962. On March 9, 1964 the first Mustang rolled off of the assembly line. Only 18 months had elapsed since the Mustang had been approved for production. With a multitude of different interior, exterior, and drivetrain options, the Mustang would be able to be ordered as plain or fancy, as economical or as fast as the buyer wanted. In general, the Mustang was designed for everyone and was advertised as "the car to be designed by you".
1967 brought the first major restyling to the Mustang. The Mustang was starting to grow up. The length and height were increased, 2.7" and .5" respectively. The wider body allowed for the installation of a tire smoking, 320 horsepower, 390 cid engine, the first big block engine in the Mustang.

Manufactured in 1966 this particular Mustang is in very good condition having benefited from a complete restoration from 1993 to 1996. During the restoration the engine, gearbox and the back axle were rebuilt to the tune of 14,000 Swiss Francs and the bodywork and painting totalled 12,000 Swiss Francs with parts ordered direct from the US. The revised engine and gearbox are original as fitted from new.

Since the restoration the car has been driven and serviced regularly with a total mileage of 18,000 km. Earlier this year new springs were fitted and all bills are available for the work carried out.

This Mustang is in excellent condition and in one ownership since 1993. The car comes with Swiss paperwork and should it remain in the EU, customs will have to be cleared at buyer's expense.
