The Fiat Dino, first shown in Pininfarina Spyder form in 1966, was born out of Ferrari's desire to compete in Formula 2. The rules of the day dictated that only production derived engines could be used, and that meant a minimum quantity of five hundred had to be built, a figure which Ferrari had no way of meeting. Enzo Ferrari, in his only inimitable way, worked out a deal with Fiat , whereby the motoring giant would build engines, around which both Fiat and Ferrari would build their own sports car, and most importantly, Ferrari would have access to a production engine with which to race in Formula 2.
This particular Dino Coupe is unusual as it has only had two owners from new and is described as being mechanically in good running order. The car is presented in the period colours of Nutmeg with Beige cloth interior and although the car is Swiss registered all E.U taxes have been paid.

It could be argued that this was a Ferrari in all but name.

The here presented vehicle received the technical restoration in 2002 as well as an engine rebuilt. According to the vendor the car is in good to fair condition and was only used sparingly. At a very recent test drive the car performed very well. It further benefits from a new set of tyres .

This very beautiful coupe, drawn by no other than Italian master coach builder Bertone is the more desirasble 2.4 litre version of the 6 cylinder engine and is eligible for Historic registration in most European countries. Offered with German registration documents.
