Ducati 888 S1 Strada
The 851 was the first Ducati with water cooling, two camshafts per cylinder head, four valves per cylinder and intake manifold injection. She was the first motorcycle to succeed in racing with intake manifold injection. The model series dominated the early 1990s, the Superbike race series.
The redesigned Desmoquattro engine was unmistakably a Ducati V2 engine: a forward and a rearward standing cylinder in the direction of travel at an angle of 90 ° ("L-Twin"), valve timing with desmodromic and timing belt drive of the camshafts.
From 1993, only engines with 888 cc were installed and the motorcycle accordingly renamed Ducati 888. The increased displacement was implemented, since this was already considered in the Superbike World Cup in the years before as the maximum limit. The 888 centimeters of space found their way into the Desmoquattromotor of the 888 Strada. The crankshaft remained largely the same as the 851, only larger pistons were used. A Big Bore Kit, so to speak. Compared to the 851 had the 1993 888 Strada the potent Magneti Marelli P8 calculator and other small niceties that could bring in from the Superbike World Cup experience in the series production. The Ducati 888 was replaced in 1994 by the Ducati 916.
The 851 and even the 888 models are today absolute classics in the ranks of the Ducati Superbikes.
Probably the unique opportunity to get hold of a new Ducati 888.
