Known History

During the year 1974, PORSCHE produced a total of 109 models of the mythical PORSCHE Carrera 3.0L. From the total number of units produced, only 54 were built to « RS » specification, including the one we offer: chassis number #9107.

This car has been built by the Porsche factory at the beginning of the year 1974. The PORSCHE 911 Carrera 3.0 RS is the most developed of the RS specification, also called "G-Series" at Porsche Motorsport (G was the internal code of the model year).

With the Porsche 2.8L RSR dominating the podiums, category victories and overall winner, Porsche Motorsport already prepared the 1974 season. Two options were available internally for this new season: making a new model with an engine 2,1L turbocharged (and produce 500 copies, then mandatory to homologate a car in Group 3) or evolve the sister car, the Carrera 2.8L RSR. Handicapped by the engine regulations too constraining (for Porsche himself and their private customers), it is the second option which will be retained by the motorsport department: the PORSCHE 3.0L RS is born.

Like its sister - the Porsche 2.8L RSR - the Porsche 3.0L RS has an immediate success when the motorsport department announces its development: they will all be pre-sold in record time, despite a significant increase of the selling price.

This car has a track record and an international dimension. First acquired by a German as soon as it was released in 1974, it was bought in 1976 by the French team "Touroul Racing". From there, many French and international drivers will drive this beast. The #9107 chassis has been driven by Jean-Pierre JARIER, Guy FREQUELIN, Bernard BEGUIN, Francis BONDIL, Jean-Louis CLARR, "TILBER", Raymond TOUROUL, Philippe MALBRAN, Jean-Hugues HAZARD, Francis ROUSSELY & Jean-Claude LEFEBVRE. She participated in many events such as the Monte Carlo Rally, the 24h of Le Mans, the Tour de France Automobile or the 6h of Dakar.

The Porsche 3.0L RS # 9107 has been fully restored in 2014 and is ready to race on the historic circuit and rally championships. The FIA HTP is also up-to-date. A large restoration file is also available with all the pictures and invoices.

The car has been entrusted since several years to the Gipimotor team, located in the Brussels region. With his experience with this car (Tour Auto overall winners in 2016, 2nd overall in 2018, CER1 podium during the 2017 Spa Classic (PETER AUTO meeting)), the Gipimotor team can provide maintenance and assistance during your various historic competitions.
