"You can't have a more convincing victory than 6 Group One Wins in a row"

In the mid to late 70's rally driving was still in a very raw and honest state, and many say was the most rewarding and exciting period of rally driving.

The Opel Kadett GTE came to life in 1978 as was the most popular rally car in Europe and the nearest thing to a straight-from-factory competition machine.

This car, nicked name "Little Magic" was built by Tong Park automotive for the Dealer Opel Team to group 1 specification. This succesful car was driven by Brian Culcheth in 1978 and winning the Group 1 category of the RAC Sedan Products Open International series. In fact Brain and the Kadett came 1st in class on all six rounds. Brian Culcheth is one of the most experienced and respected of all British rally drivers with a long list of rallying successes behind him. He joined Dealer Opel Team after a successful ten years as a works driver for Leyland.

The car itself is fine order and fully prepared designed for all aspects of the sport. The car uses the lower 4.75 final drive ration. Such gearing is significant in a less powerful Group 1 car and hits 100mph at just over the normal 7,000rpm. This set up allows the cars to balance its self between acceleration and top speed. The car will reach 60mph in 8.0 seconds and carries on to 100mph with power feeding through a four speed ZF gearbox prepared for tight fast changes.

The car is striking in appearance with its original yellow and white colour exterior with full rally spec headlamps along with the original decals. The interior is fully prepared with all the usual attributes one would expect, racing seats, roll cage, rally clock and full race harnesses.

The overall condition of the car is described by the vendor to be very good and is in ready for historic rally events. The car is supplied with its MSA competition car log book, V5 document and current MoT valid until June 2007.

This is a real chance to obtain a well documented rally car from the 70's and not only are you purchasing a great machine but a successful slice of rally history.
